Important Deadlines
Call for Submissions - April 1, 2024
Submission Deadline -
May 31, 2024
Juried Selections Announced - June 6, 2024

cARTie invites visual art submissions from all CT middle and high school students that thoughtfully capture an emotional moment in students’ lives. We wonder: how can you use texture, color, line, contrast, shadow, light, etc to express that? All submissions will be included in cARTie’s Virtual Gallery and will be featured in cARTie’s 2024-2025 Juried Art Exhibition aboard the art museum bus.

Now in its fourth year, cARTie’s annual Call for Art attracts emerging student-artists across the state of Connecticut and provides them a space to see their art prominently displayed and celebrated. Juried art selections form part of the annual art exhibition aboard the cARTie art museum bus and inspire thousands of young children and entire communities with limited access to the arts in education every year. The Jurying Committee in 2024 will give the most consideration to submissions that respond to the theme of ‘emotion in a snapshot’ through high-quality artwork that is visually compelling, original in concept, and accessible to young audiences. The Jurying Committee will also make sure to select for a diverse representation of high school student-artists.

Students may interpret the theme in myriad ways, including — but not limited to — a narrative sequence or story, portraiture, symbols, and abstraction. Multiple media are accepted for submission including 2-D and 3-D visual artworks in painting, drawing, mixed media, digital, and sculpture. Students will also submit a written “Artist Bio” and “Art Story” to accompany their artwork. Their Art Story discusses the theme, the student’s creative process and interpretation, and a message the student wishes to share with the community.

Awards will be presented to student-artists with works of art aboard cARTie at the organization’s Fall Open House. Additionally, 4 student-artists will be randomly selected to win a $50 gift certificate to Jerry's Artarama.
