Tap into the expressive arts for a great start to this back-to-school season!

Back-to-school season is upon us!

How do you and your child(ren) want to feel this back-to-school season?

What are your child(ren) most excited to learn about this year?

Pulling from the field of expressive arts, there is a lot of power in thinking about these questions AND making something of them.

In this cARTie @ home blog, we want to invite you to write, draw, and give shape to your wishes for this back-to-school season.

Here's our proposal:

  1. Start a conversation with your child(ren): Talk openly about wishes, wonders, and worries. Back-to-school season can be scary, but also exciting.
  2. Write down some key words from your conversation: What exactly did your child(ren) share? Document it!
  3. Experiment with different art media over top: How can you and your child(ren) bring these wishes to life? Get creative! See how different mark making instruments feel to work with.
  4. Hang up your work! As school starts back up, this collaboration can be a visual reminder of all the support and opportunity ahead.

Let us know what comes up in conversation and creation! Tag us @CTcARTie.
