This blog post is dedicated to CT middle and high school student-artists who need a little extra encouragement submitting their art to our 2026 Call for Art.
Believe us when we say, YOUR ART MATTERS.
We invite student-artist submissions for a reason. The young children cARTie serves need to see themselves represented and reflected in "masters" and YOU are one of them. Just by picking up an art instrument and exercising your creativity, you demonstrate to young children that they, too, can get to know themselves and the world around them in, with, and through the arts.
So here's our cheat sheet for submitting to this year's Call for Art with ease:
- Keep it simple. The whole first section of our submission form asks for simple responses: your name, your art teacher's name, and your school.
- Be proud. In your artist bio, help young students understand who you are by sharing basic information like where you grew up and what your life has been like. Then, don't be afraid to highlight how you have overcome challenges, experimented with different art media, and made an artistic style for yourself.
- Have photos ready. Whether you want to submit one, two, or three original works of art, make sure you have photos of those pieces ready. Also have a photo of yourself you'd feel comfortable sharing so that young children can connect with you as a relatable "master" artist.
- Describe your art succinctly. In the final section of our submission form, we ask you to name your work(s) of art, list their dimensions, and briefly describe each work of art. Remember, the audience is young, so the more succinct, the better.
